Here - in Los Angeles - in South Bay #USTA matches the home team opens. In the Valley and Westside matches the away the away players open.

But what about practice matches or friendlies? Are you a generous ball opener? Or do you constantly rely on your friends to open?

If you have a weekly game - is it the same woman who opens week after week?

How about if you play at someone’s court - do you bring the balls as they are providing a clean tennis court to play on?

It’s like taking a bottle of wine to their house - to thank them.
