Lessons from the NET 🎾

This is my favorite doubles partner and husband Robert. He has been playing tennis since he was a child (although he took a break to become a 3 handicap golfer for a decade). Learning to play mixed doubles was a totally new skill for me. The 4.5 or 5.0 male opponents often serve and hit the ball REALLY HARD!

One day we were playing against a thirty year old ex division one college player who was rated 5.0. He was hitting the ball with so much top spin and right at me!

I went to Robert and quietly told him, “I’m scared.” He smiled and responded, “You have amazing hands - just go closer to the net.” And he was right (as he always is). I blocked the mans balls and they just dunked over for the winning drop shot! After 6 times - the opponent stopped hitting to me at the net!!! I’m so grateful that my partner is confident in my abilities and holds the space for me to play out of my mind!!! ❤️🎾
